LOCATION: Worthington, Ohio
SCOPE OF WORK:
- Managed the project end-to-end as GC and completed a full basement buildout (1,400+ sq ft) for a repeat client, coordinating inspections and sequencing from rough-in through final finishes.
- Completed demo and concrete work, including cutting concrete as needed to route new plumbing and prepare for required rough-ins.
- Framed the full basement layout and installed insulation to meet code and improve comfort and sound control.
- Completed new electrical throughout for lighting, outlets, and kitchen/bath requirements.
- Installed new plumbing supply and drain lines for the curb shower, basement kitchen sink, bathroom vanity, and toilet; installed shower valve/trim and fixtures; completed the required ejector system with battery backup; installed a new hot water tank and ran a new gas supply line; and replaced the sump pump with a battery backup system.
- Completed HVAC work required to pass inspections, including new runs to each room for proper airflow and conditioning.
- Hung and finished drywall throughout, including all patching, sanding, and surface prep to achieve a clean, paint-ready finish.
- Painted walls using Benjamin Moore Scuff-X and finished trim using Benjamin Moore Cabinet Coat for a durable, premium interior finish.
- Installed flooring throughout the basement, then stained and applied polyurethane for long-term durability.
- Installed KraftMaid cabinets sourced through Lowe’s and set a quartz countertop to complete a fully functioning basement kitchen.
- Installed GE appliances, including the dishwasher and oven, to complete the kitchen.
- Completed tile work and finished the curb shower, including the shower niche and a quartz shower bench.
- Installed a stone ledger feature wall to add texture and a high-end focal point in the finished basement.
- Installed doors, trim, and finish carpentry details throughout, including custom routed SOSS hinges on a custom feature door for a clean hidden-hinge look.
PROJECT NOTES:
- This basement was completed as a separate project more than a year after the client’s earlier interior repaint, and was managed as a full buildout rather than a paint-only scope.
- Concrete cutting and new mechanical routing were required to support the new kitchen and full bathroom layout.
- HVAC modifications and room-by-room runs were completed to meet inspection requirements and ensure proper comfort in the finished space.
- The kitchen and bathroom were built as true functional spaces with permanent utilities, durable finishes, and cohesive design selections.
RESULT:
A complete Worthington lower level that functions like a true extension of the home—featuring a finished basement (1,400+ sq ft), a fully functioning basement kitchen with KraftMaid cabinetry, quartz tops, and GE appliances, a full bathroom with a curb shower, niche, and quartz bench, a stone ledger feature wall, and clean, durable finishes throughout. The project was delivered end-to-end with the infrastructure, inspection requirements, and final craftsmanship handled the right way.
