TRADES: Commercial General Contractor | Commercial Exterior Painting | Metal Fabrication | Structural Repair
Structural Repair, ACM Panel Fabrication & Corporate-Spec Refinish
- Assessed the full extent of structural and cosmetic damage to the front canopy after a delivery truck impact crushed the ACM panel system and internal framing.
- Removed the damaged ACM panel section and rebuilt the internal steel framing to restore structural integrity to the canopy.
- Fabricated a new aluminum composite panel with a polyethylene core to match the existing canopy system’s profile, dimensions, and mounting details.
- Installed the replacement panel, sealed all joints, shaped the edges, and prepped the metal surface for finishing.
- Repaired the horizontal underside of the canopy overhang where the impact caused additional damage to the soffit surface.
- Sprayed the canopy face with a commercial-grade Sherwin-Williams coating matched to Target’s metallic finish specification.
- Sprayed the overhang underside with Sherwin-Williams Emerald to match the existing soffit color and sheen.
Overnight Work, Corporate Deadline, Store Stayed Open
- Target required the repair completed before a scheduled corporate inspection, and the store entrance could not be closed during business hours. All on-site work was performed overnight.
- The ACM panel was fabricated off-site during a daytime session, then brought to the store for overnight installation. This split approach kept the timeline tight without compromising fabrication quality.
- The metallic canopy finish required precise color matching to Target’s corporate spec. Any visible difference between the new panel and existing canopy would have failed inspection.
- The project required two overnight sessions and one daytime fabrication session to complete the full scope from damage assessment through final coating.
Passed Corporate Inspection With Zero Visible Evidence of Damage
PaintWerks delivered a complete structural repair, custom panel fabrication, and exterior commercial paint finish that integrated seamlessly with the existing canopy system. The repair passed Target’s corporate inspection with no visible evidence of the prior damage. The store entrance remained open throughout the project, and the full scope was completed within the required deadline. This project demonstrates PaintWerks’ ability to handle emergency commercial repair work with custom fabrication, tight timelines, and corporate-level finish requirements.

If the repair involves structural work, fabrication, and finish coating, we handle the full scope under one contract so you are not waiting on multiple vendors. Call 614-582-4227 for emergency commercial work.
What is ACM panel and how do you repair it?
ACM (aluminum composite material) is a sandwich panel with two thin aluminum sheets bonded to a polyethylene core. It is commonly used on commercial building facades, canopies, and storefronts for its lightweight strength and clean appearance. When damaged, the panel and internal framing usually need to be replaced together. PaintWerks fabricates replacement panels to match the existing system’s profile and dimensions, rebuilds the framing, installs the new panel, and applies exterior commercial coatings matched to the original finish spec.
Do you work with national retail chains?
Yes. PaintWerks has completed projects for Target, Kroger, Primrose Schools, and other national brands across Columbus and Central Ohio. We carry full general liability and workers comp, provide COIs on request, and meet corporate finish specs and inspection requirements. We understand the documentation, scheduling, and quality standards that national accounts require. See our full commercial services.
