LOCATION: Core Molding Technologies, near Hilliard, Ohio
PROJECT TYPE: Phase 2 of a multi-year industrial coating project at a 330,000 sq ft composite manufacturing facility. 11,000 sq ft of additional CMU wall coating, concrete floor repairs, and custom branded wall graphics. Completed during Thanksgiving 2019 shutdown.
TRADES: Industrial Interior Painting | Epoxy Wall Coatings | Concrete Floor Repair | Custom Branding & Graphics
11,000 SQ FT Epoxy Coating, Floor Repairs & Facility Branding
- Sprayed Sherwin-Williams PreCat Epoxy on 11,000 square feet of interior CMU block walls across production areas not covered in Phase 1.
- Patched and repaired concrete floors and CMU block wall surfaces throughout the facility to restore a smooth, coatable substrate before spraying.
- Ordered a custom logo template, sprayed the Core Molding Technologies branding on the main facility wall using epoxy, and hand-detailed all edges for a clean, professional finish.
- Removed and reinstalled bulletin boards, signage, and wall-mounted equipment throughout the work zones to maintain full wall coverage.
- Coordinated all work around active production schedules, completing open-area coating during the Thanksgiving Day 2019 plant shutdown and staging remaining work during shift slowdowns.
Working Around Active Production on a Holiday Shutdown
- Phase 2 extended the epoxy wall coating program started in Phase 1 (2018), covering additional production zones, corridors, and support areas that remained uncoated after the initial mobilization.
- Concrete floor repairs addressed cracks, spalls, and surface damage from forklift traffic and manufacturing use. All repairs were completed before wall coating to prevent dust contamination during spray application.
- PreCat Epoxy was specified again for its chemical resistance, hardness, and durability in a heavy manufacturing environment with constant exposure to resins, solvents, and industrial cleaning agents.
- Holiday shutdowns and production slowdowns were the only windows for spraying open production areas. PaintWerks worked Thanksgiving Day and coordinated with the plant manager to sequence remaining zones during reduced-output shifts.
Multi-Year Client Relationship Built on Execution
PaintWerks completed the full Phase 2 scope with zero production interruptions. An additional 11,000 square feet of CMU block walls were sealed and coated with PreCat Epoxy, concrete floors were patched and restored, and the facility’s branded wall graphic was updated with a clean, professional finish. Combined with Phase 1, the majority of the plant’s interior wall surfaces are now protected with industrial-grade epoxy coatings. The continued relationship with Core Molding Technologies reflects the quality and reliability PaintWerks delivers on large-scale commercial and industrial painting projects.

Industrial Coating & Facility Maintenance Questions
How long does industrial epoxy last on CMU block walls?
PreCat Epoxy and similar industrial-grade coatings typically last 7 to 15 years on interior CMU block walls depending on the environment. Facilities with heavy chemical exposure, constant cleaning, and forklift traffic fall on the shorter end. Warehouses and storage areas with lighter use can go longer between recoats. The key factor is proper surface prep during initial application. High-build filler seals the porous block surface so the epoxy bonds evenly and does not absorb unevenly. Shortcuts on prep are why most industrial paint jobs fail early. See our commercial interior painting services.
Can you add company branding or logos to factory walls?
Yes. We fabricate custom templates and spray logos, graphics, and branding directly onto walls using the same industrial coatings as the rest of the project. All edges are hand-detailed for clean lines. The branded wall at Core Molding was sprayed with epoxy to match the surrounding wall coating, so it holds up to the same conditions. This is a common add-on for manufacturing facilities, distribution centers, and corporate offices that want visible branding in their production or lobby areas. Do you repair concrete floors before painting?
Yes. Cracked, spalled, and damaged concrete needs to be repaired before any coating goes on. Epoxy and polyurethane floor coatings amplify every imperfection in the substrate. We patch cracks, fill spalls, grind high spots, and restore a smooth, bondable surface before applying any floor coating. On this project, all concrete floor repairs were completed before wall coating began to prevent dust contamination during spray application. Sequencing matters in industrial environments.
