Managing a Multi-Trade Basement Project
- This basement was completed as a separate project more than a year after the client’s earlier interior repaint, and was managed as a full buildout rather than a paint-only scope.
- Concrete cutting and new mechanical routing were required to support the new kitchen and full bathroom layout.
- HVAC modifications and room-by-room runs were completed to meet inspection requirements and ensure proper comfort in the finished space.
- The kitchen and bathroom were built as true functional spaces with permanent utilities, durable finishes, and cohesive design selections.

Basement Finishing Questions
How much does it cost to finish a basement in Worthington, Ohio?
Basement finishing costs in the Worthington and Columbus area typically range from $30 to $75 per square foot depending on the scope. A basic finish with framing, drywall, flooring, and paint falls on the low end. A full buildout like this project with a kitchen, full bath, stone feature wall, and premium finishes falls on the high end. We provide detailed written estimates that break down every trade so you know exactly what you are paying for. Call 614-582-4227 for a free estimate.
Do you need a permit to finish a basement in Columbus?
Yes. Any basement finish that involves framing, electrical, plumbing, or HVAC work requires permits and inspections through the local building department. Worthington has its own building division separate from the City of Columbus. As a licensed general contractor, PaintWerks handles the permit process, schedules inspections at each phase, and makes sure the work passes code before we close up walls. Skipping permits creates problems when you sell the home and the finished space has no record on file.
How long does a basement finish take?
A basic basement finish with framing, drywall, flooring, and paint typically takes 4 to 6 weeks. A full buildout like this Worthington project with a kitchen, full bathroom, concrete cutting, mechanical work, tile, stone, and finish carpentry runs 8 to 12 weeks depending on inspection scheduling and material lead times. We give you a realistic timeline upfront and keep you updated throughout the build.
