Siding installation is more than nailing boards to a wall. The substrate has to be solid, flashing has to be right, and everything needs to be sealed properly or water gets behind it. Here’s how we approach LP SmartSide jobs.
First, we check the existing condition of trim, siding, and sheathing. We look for rot or signs of water damage and note anything that needs addressed before new siding can go on. We measure for material orders and put together a quote. Once the bid is approved and a clear scope of work is agreed to, we get materials on order and plan a start date.
Old siding comes off. We inspect the sheathing underneath and replace any sections that are rotted or water damaged. House wrap goes on if it's missing or compromised. Flashing gets installed around windows, doors, and any transitions. The wall needs to be solid and protected before any new siding goes up.
LP SmartSide gets installed according to manufacturer specs. Proper nailing patterns, correct overlaps, and appropriate gaps for expansion. Corners, trim, and transitions get detailed correctly. We keep the site clean and organized throughout the install.
All joints and penetrations get caulked. Touch-up primer goes on cut edges and nail heads. If painting is part of the scope, that happens after caulk cures. We clean up the site, haul off debris, and walk the job with you before calling it complete.
