Full-Service Exterior Painting for Columbus Homes
Most exterior paint jobs fail because of prep shortcuts, not bad paint. We pressure wash, scrape, sand, caulk, and prime before any finish coat goes on. If we find rot, damaged trim, or failing siding during prep, we fix it — no calling another contractor. As a licensed general contractor, we handle carpentry and painting under one roof. One crew from first scrape to final coat.
Licensed & Fully Insured
Ohio general contractor license. BBB A+ rated. General liability and workers comp on every project. COIs delivered within 24 hours for commercial clients and property managers.
One Contractor, Every Trade
Most painters call a drywall guy. Most drywall guys call a framer. We handle framing, drywall, painting, flooring, tile, and carpentry under one roof. Your project stays under our supervision from demo to final walkthrough. No juggling subcontractors. No finger-pointing between trades.
Exterior Surfaces We Paint
Trim, Fascia & Soffits
South-facing fascia bakes in direct sun. North-facing soffits trap moisture. Both fail fast without proper prep. We scrape, fill, caulk, prime, and apply two coats of high-adhesion trim paint. Rotted boards get replaced before anything gets painted — as a licensed general contractor, we handle finish carpentry and painting under one roof.
Front Doors & Entry
Your front door takes more UV, rain, and temperature swings than any other surface on your home. We match the coating to the material — urethane on wood, acrylic on fiberglass, DTM primer on metal. Properly prepped, a door finish lasts 3–5 years. We also handle interior door and trim painting so everything matches.
Decks, Railings & Fences
Horizontal surfaces and ground-level wood take the hardest hits — standing water, freeze-thaw cycles, and moisture rot boards from the bottom up. We clean, sand, and back-brush every board so stain penetrates instead of filming over. Soft deck boards, railing posts, fence boards, and stair treads get replaced when paint won't fix it. We handle repairs and new framing in-house — no separate contractor.
Shutters & Gutters
Faded shutters and mismatched gutters drag down curb appeal even after fresh siding paint. We remove shutters, degloss, prime, and apply two coats off the wall. Aluminum and galvanized gutters get DTM primer to prevent rust bleed-through. See our full siding services if you need more than paint.
Surface-Level Paint Jobs Don't Survive Columbus Winters
Every exterior surface has a failure point — and almost every premature paint failure traces back to skipped prep, the wrong primer, or not enough dry time. The paint is rarely the problem. What happened before it went on is. We prep every surface to the standard it actually requires, not the fastest one that gets us to the next job.
Trim & Fascia
Bare wood exposed to sun without primer fails fast — the topcoat has nothing to bond to and UV does the rest. Every bare or scraped-back area gets spot-primed before a finish coat goes on. Rotted sections get replaced, not filled and painted over. Caulk goes into every joint around windows and trim before primer touches it — because water getting behind the paint causes most trim and fascia failures in the first place.
Decks & Railings
Stain applied to gray, oxidized deck wood isn't penetrating — it's sitting on top of dead fiber waiting to peel. We clean with a wood brightener first to open the grain, let it fully dry, then back-brush every board so stain soaks in rather than films over. Soft boards get replaced before we coat anything. See our full deck staining and refinishing services.
Siding
The most common siding failure we see is paint applied over chalk — oxidized aluminum or old paint that was never cleaned or deglossed. New paint won't bond to chalk no matter how good the product is. We wash, degrease, and hand-scrub oxidized areas before primer goes on. Wood siding gets sprayed and back-brushed to force product into the grain. Vinyl gets a vinyl-safe flexible formula — go too dark and panels absorb heat and warp. We flag that before it becomes your problem. Need more than paint? See our siding services.
Our Exterior Painting Process
Every exterior project follows the same proven workflow. Clear communication, thorough prep, professional application, and a final walkthrough before we leave. No surprises, no callbacks, no peeling paint six months later.

Inspection & Estimate
We walk your home's exterior and note every surface that needs attention — siding condition, trim damage, caulk failures, peeling paint, and rot. You get a detailed written estimate within 48 hours that breaks down prep work, repairs, and paint. No hidden fees, no deposit required.

Prep Work
Good prep means good results. We pressure wash, scrape loose paint, sand rough spots, caulk gaps around windows and trim, and prime bare wood. If there's rot or damage, we find it and replace it. No calling another company because we can fix all common exterior building products. It's the work you don't see that makes the finished product last.

Paint Application
We brush, roll, and spray depending on the surface. Back-brushing for proper adhesion on wood siding. Multiple coats on bare wood, trim, and high-wear areas. We use Sherwin-Williams exterior products — Duration, Emerald, and SuperPaint — rated for Ohio's freeze-thaw cycles and UV exposure.

Final Walkthrough
We walk the completed project with you before cleanup. Touch-ups handled on the spot. Masking removed, landscaping uncovered, and your home ready to show off. You don't pay until you're satisfied.

Exterior Painting Questions
How long does exterior paint last in Ohio?
With proper prep and quality products, exterior paint on wood siding and trim typically lasts 7-10 years. Fiber cement and LP SmartSide can go longer. The biggest factor is how well the surface was prepped — that's why we spend more time on prep than most contractors.
What time of year is best for exterior painting?
Late spring through early fall works best in Central Ohio. We need temperatures above 50°F and dry conditions for paint to cure properly. We watch the forecast and won't apply finish coats if rain is coming within 24 hours. Check our service areas to see if we cover your neighborhood.
Do you fix rotted wood before painting?
Yes. As a licensed general contractor, we handle rot repair, board replacement, and carpentry in-house. If we find damage during prep, we fix it before any paint goes on. No calling another contractor, no delays.
How long does an exterior painting project take?
Most single-story homes take 3-5 days. Two-story homes typically run 5-8 days. Larger homes with extensive repairs can take 8-12 days. Weather delays can extend timelines, but we work efficiently during good conditions. See our project timeline FAQ for more details.
What's included in prep work?
Pressure washing, scraping loose paint, sanding rough edges, caulking gaps and cracks, priming bare wood, and minor repairs. We mask windows, protect landscaping, and cover surfaces that aren't being painted.
Do you paint vinyl siding?
Yes — we can and do paint vinyl siding, but we're upfront that we recommend against it in most cases. If you're set on it, vinyl-safe colors are non-negotiable. We won't apply anything outside of colors specifically formulated for vinyl — standard exterior paints absorb heat, cause warping, and void any remaining manufacturer warranty. If your siding is faded but structurally sound, a color change is possible. If it's chalking, cracking, or aged, vinyl siding replacement is the better investment.
What paint brands do you use?
Sherwin-Williams exterior products — Duration, Emerald, and SuperPaint depending on the surface and exposure. Commercial-grade coatings that hold up to Ohio's freeze-thaw cycles, UV, and humidity. We use the same products on our commercial exterior projects.
